California News:
California’s Democrat Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas waited until Friday at 5:00pm to remove Assembly Republicans from key positions on legislative committees, clearly agitated that Republicans are exposing corruption, negligence and graft in hearings.
“Chicken Shit move” my husband said.
As the Globe just reported, notably Assemblyman Carl DeMaio (R-San Diego) was removed from the budget committee Friday at 5:00pm by Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas because DeMaio exposed too much in his first hearing. “Gavin Newsom is laundering $25M of your state tax dollars through a laughable “Covid-19 Workplace Outreach Program” to fund far-Left political groups!” DeMaio exposed in Budget Subcommittee #5 on Friday. Within hours, he was gone.
DeMaio is clearly over the target, as are other Republicans.
Almost immediately, Assembly Republican Leader James Gallagher issued a statement on Democrats’ Friday-night changes to Assembly committee assignments:
“Before they’ve taken action on a single bill to lower the cost of living, Assembly Democrats retaliated against Republican lawmakers for highlighting their failures on the cost of living, insurance, wildfire and energy.
“Let me be clear. We will not be intimidated by petty politics. Republicans are focused and ready to fix the problems caused by decades of failed Democrat leadership.”
“In the United States, the majority rules, but the minority have rights,” fellow fighter Assemblyman Bill Essayli posted on X. “That’s the difference between a democracy and a republic. To the democrats in Sacramento: your tyranny is showing.”
Essayli was responding to a particularly smarmy X post by California Assembly Democrats. It was so smarmy that Gov. Newsom’s PR bagman Brandon Richards (He/Him) could have posted it:
“Here’s how democracy works: Voters elected Democrats to lead, the Legislature adopted HR 1 to empower the Speaker to choose committee membership and leadership, and these changes will allow the Assembly to best conduct the people’s business.”
Right. Just reading that makes me want to take a shower.
Also notable is Republican Assembly Leader James Gallagher’s response:
“He does have that power but it doesn’t make it right. I was not consulted or even given a call. This is about politics. Pure and simple. They don’t like us calling them out.”
Gallagher is right. Essayli is right. DeMaio is right. These weak-kneed, sleazy political decisions are only about politics and not governing the entire state of 40 million Democrats, Republicans, Independents and non-voters.
It’s very shallow, small thinking. But it is telling.
It is fabulously obvious that Assembly Republicans are getting under the skin of Democrats and that is a good thing. Assembly Republicans are doing the people’s work. They are DOGEing Democrats who are incapable of running anything. For the left, it’s all about power and control, even if they take the state straight to hell with their illegal slush funds, illegal non-disclosure agreements, funding illegal aliens, illegally withholding water and affordable energy, illegally grooming school kids, illegal parental violations, illegal attacks on the oil and gas industry resulting in decreased gas, and their attempt to illegally kill-off California’s agriculture industry.
As Lance Christensen, President of California Policy Partners, reminds Democrats, “California is a republic, not a democracy. Maybe a review of James Madison in Federalist 10 on the problems with mob rule is in order by the caucus?”
