Gov. Ron DeSantis didn’t mince words when he took Vice President Kamala Harris to task for her recent comments about Hurricane Milton preparations in Florida. During an appearance on Fox News’ “Hannity,” DeSantis made it clear that he wasn’t about to let Harris interfere with his state’s storm readiness efforts.
The Florida governor expressed his concerns, stating that Harris has “no role in this process.” He emphasized that the state’s emergency management teams are working around the clock to ensure the safety of Floridians as the Category 5 hurricane approaches.
DeSantis continued. He went on to critique Harris for what he saw as an attempt to politicize a potentially life-threatening situation. “It’s just not the time for that,” he said, clearly frustrated by the VP’s comments.
The governor highlighted Florida’s well-oiled emergency response system, which he claims is more than capable of handling the impending storm without federal interference. He pointed out that the state has been through its fair share of hurricanes and has fine-tuned its preparedness over the years.
DeSantis also took a moment to remind viewers of his own hands-on approach to crisis management. He referenced his past experiences leading Florida through hurricanes, emphasizing his commitment to being on the ground and actively involved in relief efforts.
The governor’s frustration was evident as he discussed what he perceived as unnecessary meddling from Washington. He stressed that Florida’s priority right now is ensuring the safety of its residents, not engaging in political posturing.
DeSantis continued, suggesting that Harris’s comments were an attempt to score political points in the midst of a potential disaster. He urged the Vice President and other federal officials to let Florida handle its business and focus on providing support if and when it’s requested.
As Hurricane Milton bears down on the Sunshine State, it’s clear that DeSantis is focused on storm preparations. His message to Harris and the federal government was clear: stay in your lane and let Florida do what it does best – protect its people.
