Young Woman Admits to Killing Her Mom and Dad on the Way to Breakfast

A 24-year-old Massachusetts woman has been arrested and charged after she allegedly killed both of her parents while on their way to breakfast. 

Jessica Cavallaro is accused of fatally shooting parents Thelma Tatten and Mark Cavallaro, both 56, at point blank range as she sat in the backseat of their car. 

She was arraigned at the Concord District Court on Thursday afternoon and charged with murder, assault, battery with a dangerous weapon and carrying a firearm without a license. 

Middlesex County District Attorney Marian Ryan said that deputies responded to an emergency 911 call just after 9am yesterday. 

Officials pronounced the mother dead on the scene while the father was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. He later died at the hospital. 

According to court documents, Jessica Cavallaro lived with her boyfriend and his parents on Washington Street in Bedford.

Early Thursday morning, she came home from work unexpectedly and said that she was experiencing a panic attack. 

Her parents had picked her up from work and taken her to her boyfriend’s house.

Jessica reportedly went inside the Washington Street house for about 30 minutes, then came back out and  got in her parents’ car to go to breakfast. 

But as she got in, Jessica allegedly shot them both in the head and then went back inside the house and told her boyfriend’s parents what she had done, according to documents. 

‘Shortly before 9am this morning a 911 call was placed from a particular address where the homeowner called to say this defendant had just killed her parents,’ Assistant Middlesex DA Suzanne Wiseman said in court.

Prosecutors have not said why she allegedly committed the crime. 

According to NBC10, the weapon belonged to Jessica’s boyfriend who had several in a safe inside the family home. 

‘The prevalence of guns and the availability of firearms, many of the incidents we’ve had in the last few weeks, the last couple of months, have involved firearms in the hands of people who shouldn’t be having them,’ Ryan told the channel. 

Jessica Cavallaro is being held without bail and is next scheduled to appear on August 20 in court. She will also reportedly being undergoing a psychiatric evaluation.
