- Fashion missteps were notable at events in 2025, from awards shows to the Cannes Film Festival.
- Jamie Lee Curtis wore too many feathers at this year’s SAG Awards.
- Kim Kardashian was unrecognizable at the Academy Museum Gala.
We need to talk about the red-carpet duds of 2025.
Sure, there were many standout fashion moments throughout the year, like Zendaya at the Golden Globes. Still, there were just as many fashion mistakes made at major events.
Jamie Lee Curtis, for example, pushed feathers to their limit at the SAG Awards, and Alexander Skarsgård wore a truly ridiculous pair of boots in Cannes. Then, Kim Kardashian went incognito at the Academy Museum Gala.
Sadly, they’re not alone. Here’s a look at those outfits and other style moments that disappointed in 2025.

She walked the Golden Globes red carpet on January 5 in a hot-pink jumpsuit with long sleeves. It also had a V-shaped neckline, a thick waist panel, and wide-leg pants. The actor sported a massive ruffled cape on top.
McCarthy was overwhelmed by the Christian Siriano look. A simpler gown in a lighter shade of pink would have suited her much better.

Unfortunately, she was one of the stars who missed the mark with her fashion at the February 23 event. Her feathered top was so thick that it covered her entire neck and created an unflattering silhouette.
Her Dolce & Gabbana dress was much better, with a form-fitting shape and all-over sparkles. Still, the outerwear distracted from her gown.

The musician walked the Oscars red carpet on March 2 in a custom Ralph Lauren ball gown. Though it had some potential, its various features ultimately clashed and created a messy look.
Its sparkling, strapless top would have suited a prom dress, while its full skirt with a raw hem looked messy and incomplete. Her brown belt also looked much more casual than her layered diamond necklaces.

His black catsuit featured floor-length trousers, a loose-fitting top that covered half his torso, and a neckline that extended into a scarf wrapped around the bottom of his face.
The outfit fit him poorly, looked a bit odd, and landed him on the night’s worst-dressed list.

Latex had a moment in the late 2010s, but it’s long passed. So it was confusing to see Lively in a tan-colored dress made from the stretchy material at the premiere of “Another Simple Favor.”
The Renée Masoomian garment was strapless with a structured bodice and a lace-embellished skirt. It also featured a latex overcoat that Lively wore at the start of her appearance.

She arrived at the Breakthrough Prize ceremony in a sequinned Gaurav Gupta gown.
Though the color and sparkling material suited the musician, its shape and accessories did not.
The visible mesh that held its bodice together distracted from its unique shape, and its matching headpiece appeared too tight to fit Perry comfortably.

For the Time 100 Gala on April 24, Sheeran sported a Tom Ford suit that was tailored perfectly.
But its pale-pink color washed him out, and the white T-shirt he wore beneath his blazer was too bland. A darker fabric could have improved his suit, especially if paired with a button-down top.

She attended the event on May 8 in a black one-piece from Monse. The sleeveless garment had a leather bodice and wide-leg trousers with an asymmetrical skirt draped on top.
The outfit was cool, but it wasn’t accessorized to its full potential. It would’ve been fun to see Kidman wear it with an updo hairstyle, smoky eye makeup, and a bit of silver jewelry.

Witzøe might’ve been one of the few billionaires at the 2025 Met Gala, but he was also one of the worst-dressed.
The Norwegian billionaire wore a white suit from Todd Patrick, an overcoat seemingly made from latex, multiple necklaces, a wide-brimmed hat, and Tabi boots.
He also carried a see-through briefcase filled with vibrant red roses, which made the outfit look more like a costume.

Saint Laurent custom-made her black blazer dress, which she wore with sheer tights and diamond jewelry.
The glamour of those accessories clashed strongly with her edgy choice of shoes: a pair of platform open-toed heels.
Overall, though, the outfit was too plain and didn’t match the night’s theme, which honored Black dandyism and menswear.

She wore a pearlescent dress from Elie Saab, which had off-the-shoulder straps and a mix of blue and purple sequins from top to bottom.
Though the color choice was fun, the gown’s mermaid shape and see-through stripes made it look cheap.
It wasn’t her best look on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet this year.

He was photographed on the Cannes red carpet wearing a Saint Laurent tux and his trousers tucked into thigh-high leather boots.
The fashion house first unveiled the shoe style during its January runway show, where the design looked somewhat interesting. On a red carpet, though, they mostly looked ridiculous.

The Blonds designed her royal blue ensemble, which was strapless and covered in silver sparkles. It had a structured bodice, a sharp neckline, and long pants with flame-like fringe at the ankles.
The top half of the outfit had potential and would have worked if paired with a miniskirt. As a catsuit, though, the outfit looked more like a costume.

She walked the event’s red carpet in a shapeless, colorless gown from Prada. It had a high neckline, long sleeves, and a flowing skirt that revealed her silver platform sandals.
The outfit was forgettable and could have been improved with silver jewelry and an updo hairstyle.

She wore a beige jumpsuit that was covered in transparent sequins and embellished with cutouts. It had a scarf neckline, one off-the-shoulder sleeve, and skinny pants.
Unfortunately, the garment wasn’t tight enough to be form-fitting, nor loose enough to fit oversized. Its neutral color was also too light to make a statement.

She attended Givenchy’s runway show in a sheer gown from the designer label. It had an off-the-shoulder neckline covered in red ruffles, and a sheer skirt that revealed the bodysuit she wore underneath.
The dress itself wasn’t balanced and seemed to be missing something. Her bubble heels also clashed with her already dramatic outfit.

Simone Rocha designed her eye-catching set, which featured wide-legged trousers worn beneath a sleeveless, sparkling gown.
The top half of her outfit would have looked chic if worn on its own. But when paired with pants, the style overpowered the actor.

She wore a tan look from Maison Margiela, which was just a touch lighter in shade than her skintone, and a stack of diamond and emerald necklaces wrapped around her neck.
The strapless gown, with its arm bands and light ruching, looked elegant on the billionaire. However, she also wore a tan hood that covered her face, which looked more silly than serious.

She wore a long-sleeved, V-neck gown from Gucci in a striking green color. It was covered in sequins and contrasted her dark hair beautifully.
However, her accessories didn’t work with the dress. She carried a small black purse and wore a statement necklace made from rubies and diamonds.
The two pieces clashed and distracted from the elegant gown.

The country star hosted the annual event, making numerous outfit changes throughout the night.
One of those included a long-sleeved, camouflage dress with a floor-length skirt, a long brown belt, leather gloves, and a cowboy hat.
The outfit’s country vibes were strong, but it fell short of glamorous and was definitely not her best look during the CMA Awards.
