If you see a politician out with their three-year-old daughter—ANY politician—and choose to make her feel anxious and scared, you are, in point of fact, the bad guy in the situation. Or, as JD Vance eloquently stated this weekend regarding his own daughter, you’re a sh*t person. The Cincinnati chapter of the “We Heart Zelenskyy” fan club did this over the weekend, and the Vice President was less than amused.
“It was a mostly respectful conversation, but if you’re chasing a 3-year-old as part of a political protest, you’re a shit person.”
As of this writing, it is unclear if the protestors could point to Ukraine on a map. Or, if they think it’s so important, why they aren’t enlisting to fight themselves. It is also, as of this writing, unclear if they switched to their “Elon Musk is a Nazi” signs for their afternoon performances.
But they got their audience with Vance, who handled things better than I would have.
On a related note…
As you watch these unhinged people yell at JD Vance because of whatever that day’s talking points were, one of whom dressed as the Statue of Liberty, it begs the question… how much of the change in public opinion towards Ukraine has to do with the left’s and the media’s (but I repeat myself) glazing over Ukraine.
Because it never seems to be enough to have a difference of opinion over a global event. You have to act as if what’s happening with Ukraine is more important than anything happening in America.
Disasters hit America from North Carolina to Hawaii, yet Democrats threaten to hold up aid unless Ukraine gets their taste, too. When our elected officials vote to give Ukraine even more of our tax money, they wave another country’s flags while on the floor of Congress. One Democrat even traveled to Ukraine to present Zelesnkyy with the roll call of who did and didn’t vote to give him money.
Zelenskyy could have put Ukraine First, signed the mineral deal, and worked towards peace. Instead, he had a hissy fit in the Oval Office. Progressive blame JD Vance for it because he was too mean. They think accosting him while he’s out with his toddler is an effective way to address the issue. Sure, go with that.
