President Vladimir Putin has reportedly called on his ex-bodyguard in a desperate bid to help bolster the defenses of Russia as Ukraine continues to make advances in Kursk.
Knewz.com has learned that Russia is suffering heavy casualties at the hands of invading Ukrainian forces in the border region.

In addition to a staggering number of personnel losses in Kursk, Ukraine has also captured around 1,200 Russian troops over the course of the invasion—which is currently in its ninth day.
Former Putin bodyguard Alexei Dyumin has now been tasked with coordinating the Defense Ministry, security agencies, and regional authorities.
It has been reported that the now 51-year-old had once saved the Russian President from a “rampaging” brown bear.
The former Putin bodyguard has also served as the deputy head of the main army unit as well as deputy defense minister of Russia.
The announcement of Dyumin’s appointment as the one to take charge of the Russian defenses in Kursk has been lauded by noted pro-war personalities in Russia, according to reports.

“Dyumin is a military man, respected in the army and in the special services,” said Aleksandr Sladkov, a state TV reporter.
“Dyumin is Putin’s man, he will not allow the President to be deceived,” he added.
Notably, the former Putin bodyguard has invoked enough support that, according to reports, he was also eyed as the potential successor to the Russian autocrat.
As the Ukrainian incursion continues in Kursk, President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed in a recent statement that 74 settlements in the region are currently under Ukrainian occupation.
“We are increasing the territory of active actions. The head of the committee reported that our forces control 74 settlements in the Kursk region,” the Ukrainian President said in the statement, thanking the troops for making the operation successful.

Ukraine began the operation in Kursk with a handful of soldiers on August 6, which snowballed into a larger assault that is currently in its ninth day.
It has been reported that “thousands” of Armed Forces personnel have been infiltrating the border since the “mini invasion” began.
Putin has reportedly been visibly shaken as a result of the first invasion into Russian territory since the attempt made by Nazi Germany in the Second World War.
Recently, Ukraine carried out a missile strike that targeted a military convoy of approximately 14 service trucks, each loaded with weapons and ammunition, resulting in a fiery explosion that left a gruesome trail of bodies and destroyed vehicles on the road.
According to reports, the strike left around 400 Russian soldiers dead, and many of Putin’s troops were captured as prisoners of war.
A Telegram channel reported that the death toll in Russia’s defensive line in Kursk has reached a point where several bodies have been left unidentified since August 7.

A separate outlet on the platform chalked up the failing state of the defenses of Russia in the invaded region to the “lack of sophisticated technology.”
“According to a Ukrainian officer, about 1,200 Russian soldiers and officers have been captured since the beginning of the operation,” the outlet wrote, according to reports.
“A Russian staff officer shared a different figure. According to him, up to 750 Russian servicemen have been captured by the Ukrainians in a week, including many conscripts and border guards,” the channel added.
“Such a large number of prisoners is explained by the fact that many Russian units do not have up-to-date maps, operate without drone support and have no intelligence… As a result, units either lose direction and run into the Ukrainian Armed Forces, or fall into a well-prepared ambush.”
“Ukrainian reconnaissance groups have also run into Russian troops or fallen into ambushes several times, losing equipment and people… In the conditions of chaos in the combat zone, this is inevitable,” the channel further wrote.
