Lee Reeves Signs Taxpayer Protection Pledge

Lee Reeves, candidate for Tennessee’s 65th State House district, signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge this week. In doing so, Reeves is the first candidate in that race to make a written commitment to taxpayers that, if elected, he will oppose and vote against legislation that would impose a net tax hike. 

“I applaud Lee Reeves for being the first in this race to make this important commitment to Tennessee taxpayers,” said Grover Norquist, president of Americans for Tax Reform. “In signing the Taxpayer Protection Pledge, Reeves is in good company. Other Taxpayer Protection Pledge signers in the Volunteer State include Governor Bill Lee, Senator Bill Hagerty, Senator Marsha Blackburn, and Senate Majority Leader Jack Johnson, among others.” 

The Taxpayer Protection Pledge has been signed by 18 sitting governors, nearly 1,000 state legislators, a majority of the U.S. House, and nearly half of the U.S. Senate. 

“I encourage all candidates to sign the Taxpayer Protection Pledge. As it currently stands, Lee Reeves is the only candidate running for the Tennessee’s 65th State House district who has made a commitment to voters that, if elected, he will maintain Tennessee’s relatively low tax burden and competitive business tax climate.”
